I've seen bodies of water
sunrises
changes of scenery
that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy
You'll never see this world the same again
enter at your own risk
Sometimes I lose my pen
as soon as the storm comes rolling in
so I penetrate my skin for dirty blood
before I forget to shackle
your enlivening words
to my desolate cages of blank pages
That's how much I love you, Poetry
When I'm tongue-tied
are you still thinking of me?
When I've lost my fire
are you awaiting my return, too?
Could you feel me between caressed cigarettes
pulling teeth and hair by the roots
when I became ungrounded?
Could you hear me fall
like a rotting tree onto my bed?
Perhaps you tasted my acid rain
in the hungry moonlight
tossing and turning
like the pushing and pulling
of weak magnets and dead batteries?
Poetry, I saved your spot
and kept your seat warm
Come back to me
Make yourself at home
I'm addicted to your poisons
Withdrawals on my own

The flow and the pacing in this... It's as though poetry was coming back to you as you wrote it. I love the concept of poetry as a person, your distant lover... which is so true. I really love this - welcome back.
